Description
Bachelor thesis - Skull as a symbol / Lebka jako symbol
During my studies I have continuously encountered the symbol of skull across different media, whether it be paintings, drawings or sculptures. When seeing the pure white skull I have thought of the possibility to examine what I see in the skull and also the subsequent idea of expressing my vision by covering its surface.
In my wok I examine what skulls evoke in me and the specifics and reasons behind my self-expression. I emphasize that the skull is a universal symbol which often has individual meanings.
Each skull has its own symbolism: the motif of worms and decay; death mask; the usage of the skull in art; the darkness in the psyché; poison; pink serving to provide contrast and a a feminine aspect; the cranium.
